What are the different methods for exterior wall waterproofing?
2025-07-21
There are four main methods for exterior wall waterproofing: coating waterproofing, membrane waterproofing, concrete waterproofing, and brick-cladding waterproofing. The specific choice depends on the building structure, material properties, and construction conditions.
Coating Waterproofing
Material Selection: Commonly used flexible coatings include polyurethane and acrylic, which are convenient and cost-effective to apply, but require regular maintenance.
Construction Steps:
Clean the wall surface, removing oil stains and loose layers;
Apply 2-3 coats of coating, allowing each coat to dry completely;
Check the coating for completeness to avoid omissions.
Membrane Waterproofing
Material Types: Modified bitumen membrane or PVC membrane, strong waterproofing performance but higher construction difficulty.
Key Processes:
The wall surface must be dry and flat, and the membrane should be laid from bottom to top;
The overlapping width should be ≥100mm horizontally and ≥80mm vertically;
Seams must be sealed.
Concrete Waterproofing
Core Measures: Add polymer cement waterproofing agent or sodium silicate to the concrete to improve impermeability.
Construction Points:
The waterproofing agent must be evenly mixed into the concrete;
Strengthen curing after pouring to prevent cracking.
